Luqaimat, sweet dumplings (Arabic dessert)

luqaimat or sweet dumpling is a delicious Ramadan dessert known among all Arabs. It is basically made of flour, corn flour, yeast, sugar and water. This is my version of luqaimat. hope you like it

ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 cup corn flour
1 tbs instant yeast
1 tbs granulated sugar
1 3/4 cup warm water
sugar syrup (see:
A link to the sugar syrup recipe)

Steps:

watch the steps demonstrated in the video above

Sift the flour and the corn flour together in a bowl

Add the instant yeast, sugar and combine well

Gradually add the water and beat it well until you get a smooth batter. It shouldn’t be runny or too thick. Make sure that it is free of lumps.

Cover it with cling film and keep in a dry place for 30 minutes. This is going to activate the yeast and double the batter in size.

Deep fry the dumplings in hot oil using two teaspoons. One teaspoon will carry the batter and the other will sliding it into the hot oil. This technique will create the round shape of the dumplings.

Keep stirring the dumplings while frying them until they become golden

Pour the cold sugar syrup over the hot dumplings

Serve them hot or cold
