Funnel Cake

Funnel Cake

makes: 6 medium cakes
Preparation and cooking time: 15 minutes

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

Pinch of salt

2 tablespoon granulated sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ cup milk

Oil for frying (about 125 ml in a small deep frying pan)

Powder sugar to sprinkle on top


Mix the dry ingredients all together (flour, baking powder, sugar and salt)

In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, milk and vanilla extract together

Add the wet to the dry ingredients and whisk them well

Pour the batter in a funnel or an icing bag with a small tip

Heat the oil in a small deep frying pan

Test if the oil is hot enough to start frying

Pour the batter from the funnel to the oil in a circular motion (as if you are drawing a whirlpool)

Wait for 1-2 minutes before flipping it to get both sides nice and golden

Sprinkle some powder sugar on top and serve it along with fresh fruits

Serve it hot or cold
